Sarpy County Board Votes To Remove Treasurer From Office

(Sarpy County, NE)  --  The Sarpy County Board of Commissioners is voting to remove the county treasurer from office.  Tuesday afternoon, the board voted 5-to-zero to remove Brian Zuger from office after they say he misappropriated funds for county school districts.  His removal is effective immediately. The Board has appointed an Interim Treasurer to serve until they find a replacement.

Nebraska Tops 150 Coronavirus Cases; Third Related Death

Nebraska health officials are confirming the state's third coronavirus-related death.  The person who died from COVID-19 is a Lincoln County man in his 90s who had underlying health conditions.  As of yesterday, there were 153 confirmed COVID-19 cases in the state.

(Sarpy Co., NE)  --  Three eastern Nebraska law enforcement agencies are planning to merge their SWAT officers into one unit.  Reports say the Sarpy County Sheriff's Office and the La Vista and Papillion Police Departments all made their case to the county board of commissioners yesterday, saying the move would save taxpayers money and better protect them.  The county board and both city councils approved the agreement.  The group says it's now trying to get the Bellevue Police Department to join.

GRETNA, Neb. (AP) — Work will soon begin to fix an eastern Nebraska road that leads to a religious shrine.

Bellevue voters will decide November 6 if the city should raise its sales tax one-half cent and create an economic development program.

Voters in the Papillion-La Vista School District will decide November 6 if the district should borrow $59.6 million for two new elementary schools and renovations to six buildings.
