The Joslyn Castle is excited to announce the 9th annual Art and Literary Festival: Edgar Allan Poe - The Master of Mystery and Macabre! In partnership with Metropolitan Community College’s Theatre, Art, English and culinary school, the Art and Literary Festival will run from Oct. 7-21st at the Joslyn Castle, and will offer live theatre, lectures and discussion, POE-try contest, art, live music and much more!

November 2nd is the evening during which Outlook Nebraska holds their annual fundraiser, the Vision Beyond Sight Banquet, from 6:00 - 9:00 p.m. at the Embassy Suites La Vista.

This Friday, October 5th at the Whiskey Roadhouse in the Horseshoe Casino, comedians come together for laughs and to raise money for The Micah House.  Funds raised will help complete the mission to provide a safe and nurturing environment with support services for those families and individuals experiencing the crisis of homelessness.

Healing Justice, explores the causes and consequences of the current North American justice system and its effect on marginalized communities. The film walks back through the history of violence that has led to our current system, bringing into focus the histories of trauma – on a personal, interpersonal, community, and generational level. This powerful documentary addresses the school-to-prison pipeline, the need for comprehensive criminal justice reform, and the importance of healing and restorative practices.

Pastor Portia Cavitt (Clair Memorial United Methodist Church), Fred Ross (Heartland Family Service), and Jasmine Harris (Defy Nebraska) join Mike Hogan to discuss. 

The film will be screened, Tuesday, October 9th from 6 - 8:30 p.m. at the Clair Memorial United Methodist Church, 5544 Ames Avenue.

A panel discussion with Omaha leaders will immediately follow the film.

Breast cancer survivors, current patients, families and supporters will come together for the 25th Anniversary Nebraska Race for the Cure® on Sunday, Oct. 7, 2018 at Baxter Arena. The event honors breast cancer survivors, celebrates the memory of those who have lost their lives to breast cancer and raises funds for local breast health services and research.
