Crossroads redevelopment project could begin this summer

Construction could begin later this year on Crossroads Village in Omaha.

Mayor Jean Stothert and the developers of Crossroads Mall signed a memorandum of understanding Thursday. Plans are for Crossroads, at 72nd and Dodge Streets, to be a mixed-use development.

In a news release, Mayor Stothert’s office says plans for Crossroads Village include apartments, office space, green space, a hotel, and retailers.

Next week, a resolution will be on the city council agenda for the city to borrow $50 million for the Crossroads project. If approved by the city council, the bond issue would be on the May ballot. Stothert says it won’t raise property taxes.

The $400 million Crossroads Village project is scheduled for completion in 2016.
