The Omaha Public Schools board has new leadership.
Board members voted unanimously Wednesday night to accept Freddie Gray’s resignation. Gray submitted a letter of resignation Tuesday, saying she’s accepted a new job that would prevent her from effectively serving on the OPS board.
New OPS board president Marian Fey thanked Gray for her service to OPS and the community. "She’s a tireless advocate for young people and I appreciate the time that I had serving with her on this board and in other capacities as well."
Gray was re-elected to the District Two seat on the OPS board last November.
Mary Morrissey was elected OPS board vice-president with eight votes. Morrissey was also vice-president of the OPS board during Gray’s first term as president.
