(Omaha, NE) -- Omaha Mayor Jean Stothert is voicing her opposition to a proposed ban on plastic grocery bags. Stothert sent a letter to the Omaha City Council yesterday noting that she would prefer the council approve a non-binding resolution asking retailers to decrease their reliance on single-use plastic bags. The proposed ordinance would prohibit plastic bags at businesses that primarily sell food including grocery stores and bakeries.
