Veterans who are already enrolled in VA healthcare have met the minimum requirements set forth under the Affordable Care Act.
Will Ackerman is Public Affairs Officer for the VA Nebraska-Western Iowa.
He says the VA recently launched a new website to let veterans know what the Affordable Care Act means for them.
Ackerman also says the healthcare law does not change any VA health benefits or out-of-pocket costs veterans may have.
"Veterans getting healthcare through their business, or through Medicare, Medicaid or Tri-Care, can use those plans in conjunction with VA healthcare. Now we can’t help them get into those other healthcare plans, but they can use what we call “co-managed care,” which is VA healthcare along with some of their other private health insurance.”
Ackerman says veterans may enroll for VA healthcare through the VA’s website.
