Omaha, NE – KIOS, 91.5fm, Omaha's NPR Station, is pleased to announce a new partnership with KVNO, Classical 90.7 FM that will strengthen public radio service to the metropolitan Omaha community by streamlining both station's broadcasting schedules. Effective September 4, 2006, KIOS serves as the region's source for NPR news and jazz, while KVNO is the official station for classical music in the Omaha-Council Bluffs region.
On August 28, 2006, KIOS Station Manager Keith Neisler and KVNO General Manager Debra L. Aliano signed an agreement that outlines these changes and emphasizes the partnership that prompted the decision to create more clearly defined programming for each public radio station. KIOS and KVNO are cooperating and collaborating to streamline programming that eliminates confusion between the two stations while providing listeners with clear-cut sources for jazz and classical music. Moreover, KIOS and KVNO enjoy a long-standing relationship with one another, and both stations are working to cross-promote the changes to each other's programming schedules. Keith Neisler, station manager for KIOS, says: This partnership is great for listeners. There is a clear distinction between the programming that KIOS and KVNO offer and that distinction lessens confusion. KIOS is the NPR News and Jazz station and KVNO is the source for Classical music in the Omaha-Council Bluffs market. KVNO is a great partner, and I applaud General Manager Debbi Aliano and Program Directior Mike Hagstrom. And, emphasizes Neisler, If listeners are concerned that they're going to miss some of their favorite programs, all they have to remember is that KIOS is news and jazz and KVNO is classical music. It's very simple, and it makes things much easier for listeners - and all the more enjoyable.
