Nebraska Democrats plan February caucus

By Katie Knapp

Omaha, NE – Nebraska Democrats are trying something new this year--they plan to caucus February Ninth to choose a Presidential candidate. Communications Director Eric Fought says party officials decided on a caucus ahead of the May primary because they wanted Democrats' voices to be heard. Fought says the State Democratic Party isn't backing a particular candidate at this point.

Meanwhile, State Republicans plan to vote May 13 as planned. Party Chairman Mark Quandahl says a primary ensures more participation. He says there are other issues on the ballot for Nebraska Republicans to vote on besides the Presidential nominee.
