Lincoln, NE – An Omahan is the new CEO of the Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services.

Kerry Winterer begins as HHS director July 13. He's the co-founder of The Benefit Group and a western Nebraska native.

Winterer says becoming the CEO of an agency as large as DHHS is challenging, but also invigorating. DHHS has a $2.9 billion budget and employs more than 5,000 Nebraskans. There are six divisions within DHHS, including behavioral health and children and family services.
