Omaha, NE – The city of Omaha has received a grant to hire a Chief Service Officer.
Omaha was one of ten cities nationwide to receive the Cities of Service grant. It recognizes cities that have a commitment to volunteerism and community activism.
Ron Gerard, Mayor Jim Suttle's Chief of Staff, says the city plans to use the two-year grant to fund the position of Chief Service Officer. That person will be in charge of crafting a Master Plan governing all volunteer and community service activities. Mayor Suttle plans to appoint a Chief Service Officer this spring.
The Cities of Service Grant is funded by the Rockefeller Foundation.
