VA of Nebraska-Western Iowa Police Chief receives award

By Cheril Lee

Omaha, NE – The Chief of Police for the VA of Nebraska-Western Iowa has been awarded The Chief of the Year by the Department of Veterans Affairs.

Dennis Moore has been with the local VA for two years. Moore was recognized for securing funding to implement a security overhaul that covered the three geographically separated health care facilities. He attributes his success to being surrounded by a good team of people.

He says the job is extremely rewarding because he is a veteran who received his health care at the Nebraska-Western Iowa Health Care System. Moore says he's now able to give back to veterans, in particular those that are coming back from Iraq and Afghanistan.

Awards were given out in Tampa, Florida last month. Captain Ray Brantis, also based at the Omaha VA Medical Center was named a Lead Officer of the Year at the event.
