(North Platte, NE) -- Municipal Light and Water officials are scratching their heads after a power outage in North Platte left as many as four thousand residents without power yesterday. The culprit? A large bird that apparently flew into an electrical transmission line a little before 11 a.m. Officials say that prompted a circuit breaker to pop at the Nebraska Public Power District substation between the city and Lake Maloney. Power was restored within about 20 minutes.
