Game One of the American League Division Series drew fans from all over in its sellout atmosphere at Kauffman Stadium in Kansas City.  But it wasn’t good news for those pulling for the Kansas City Royals.

Before filing in with the rest of the Royals fans, John Wiechman of Lincoln spent some time tailgating in the Kauffman Stadium parking lot with a couple of his buddies from work.

Wiechman knows the Royals’ record is better this year than a year ago, but he’s apprehensive about their chances of returning to the World Series.

“Yeah, they’re a better team, but the pitching’s a little sketchier this year than last year,” said John Wiechman.

Then Royals starting pitcher Yordano Ventura gave up three runs in the first two innings.

After Alex Gordon’s at-bat in the second, there was a 49-minute rain delay.  By then, it was too late.  The Astros went on to win the game, 5-2.
