American Red Cross Offers New Tornado App

The American Red Cross recently launched its official Tornado App for iPhone and Android Smartphone users.

Liz Dorland is the Communications Specialist for the Nebraska-Southwest Iowa region of American Red Cross.

Dorland says the Tornado App puts lifesaving information in the palm of your hand.

The app provides instant access to real-time information so people know what to do before, during and after a tornado.

Dorland says the App has a high pitched siren that goes off when a tornado warning has been issued.

"We might be traveling and may not know our specific location or know if danger is coming towards us.  This app knows exactly where you are and will give you that warning if you are traveling to a city where you have no idea where you’re at, it will warn you if you’re in danger.”

Dorland says the Tornado App will also give an all-clear once the warning has expired so you know when it’s safe.

The Tornado App is available in English and Spanish.  And it will sound off even if your phone volume is off.
