Certainly one of the most potent dates in recent years by some of the today's top Chicago avant-garde players. Frank Rosaly leads this group of top notch instrumentalists in a program of dense rhythm and unusual musical conversations. Rosaly, on drums and percussion, piano & electronics is joined by James Falzone on clarinet, Keefe Jackson on tenor saxophone, bass clarinet and contrabass clarinet, Jason Stein on bass clarinet, Jason Roebke on bass and the sensational vibraphonist Jason Adasiewicz. On the disc, in the selections "Wet Feet Splashing", "Tragically Positive"and "Driven", the inventive way the clarinets are used to contrast the vibraphone and drums becomes readily apparent. These unusual contrasts are on top of a rhythmic base that is thick and entrancing. If you have not sampled the music of the leading players of the Chicago avant-garde scene yet this would be a good place to start. Recommended listening.
