Omaha, NE – The Nebraska Democratic Party says 38,000 people in 92 counties participated in Saturday's first-ever caucus. Party officials decided last year to hold a February caucus, in hopes that state Democrats would have a say in the Presidential nomination process. Turnout in Douglas and Sarpy Counties was strong, at times overwhelming the caucus sites. First-time caucus goers at Metropolitan Community College Saturday morning called the event exciting. Senator Barack Obama won Saturday's caucus by a two-to-one margin over Senator Hillary Clinton.
