Sasse, Domina win Senate primaries

Ben Sasse and Dave Domina will run for Nebraska’s open U.S. Senate seat.

Sasse won the GOP primary with 49 percent of the vote. Omaha banker Sid Dinsdale came in second. Domina won the Democratic primary for U.S. Senate. Domina says he won’t support cuts to Social Security or Medicare, and believes there’s a “significant problem” with the national debt.

"That problem can only be solved when we start to use the Internal Revenue Service Code to raise our money, and not make spending exceptions and exemptions and loopholes. We plug those loopholes, we get the revenue in, we have a separate debate about spending the money after it’s collected, but do not let large corporations escape taxation and leave that burden to the rest of us."

Domina is an attorney in Omaha. Sasse is president of Midland University in Fremont.

The general election is November 4th.
