SBA Launches InnovateHER Business Challenge

InnovateHER, the 2015 Innovating for Women Business Challenge kicked off in early March.

Michael Foutch, Economic Development Specialist for the SBA, says competitions were hosted by universities, SBA’s resource partners and other local organizations.

Foutch says InnovateHER is a nationwide initiative that’s meant to harness the power of entrepreneurs to develop products, services and technologies that support women as they deal with the challenges of work and home.

He says Nebraska’s semi-finalist will be chosen next Thursday.

"We have folks who are going to present their business plan to a panel of judges down in Lincoln on the 26th at the Entrepreneurship Center of Southeast Community College.  The winner from that will have their nomination package sent to the selection board which will then choose from semi-finalists across the country to see if they are one of the 10 finalists chosen.”

Foutch says an executive committee made up of SBA officials will review the semi-finalists’ nomination packages and select a maximum of 10 finalists.

The 10 finalists will travel to Washington DC on Mary 8th where they will get to pitch their products and ideas to a panel of experts.
