The Defenders of Freedom Open House and Air Show returns this summer

After taking a year off for ramp construction, The Defenders of Freedom Open House and Air Show returns to Offutt Air Force Base July 30th and 31st.

US Air Force Major James Lee says this year’s air show features a variety of new acts including the premiere jet team, the United States Air Force Thunderbirds.

Lee says the open house will offer visitors the chance to tour many different aircraft.

"There will be several, 20-30 different military planes.  These will range from new, still flying to Korean War, WW II planes.  People can go through them and talk to the crews.  There will be a huge kids’ section so bring the families out.  And then from Noon to 4:00 is when the air acts generally start.”

Information on the Open House and Air Show, including displays and demonstrations, will be posted to their website at offuttairshow.com

The air show has been a regular community event since 1972 and is one of the few times the base is open to the public.
