Omaha (KIOS-FM) – Happy April Fools Day from your Events Calendar staff at KIOS-FM.
Thanks for being such great supporters of KIOS-FM and permitting us the occasional lapse from Public Radio gravitas.

You can hear my interview with Hamish McTavish at the link at the top of this article.

Just for the record . . . there is no New Edinburgh, Nebraska, no New Highland Pipers and no Hamish McTavish (my thanks to Hughie McPhee for voicing the erstwhile director). Wild Haggis is an urban myth but there is a multitude of web sites devoted to promoting that myth. Most other aspects of this interview are also fabricated although a Scotsman and cartographer named James McKay did travel Nebraska in the late 18th Century. Lewis and Clark apparently found his maps invaluable in their travels.

If you're Scottish, please don't write in. Just know that we love you (especially if you call in with a pledge of financial support during our upcoming Fund Drive, April 5th-11th).

If you'd like to see and hear some bona fide Scottish pipers, the Scottish Society of Nebraska will soon be celebrating Tartan Day with music, bagpiping, dancing and food. The event takes place on April 5th at St. Andrews Episcopal Church, 925 S. 84th St., Omaha, 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. More information is available at http://scottishsocietynebraska.org.

Many thanks for listening,

Michael Lyon
