Just for the record . . . there is no New Edinburgh, Nebraska, no New Highland Pipers and no Hamish McTavish (my thanks to Hughie McPhee for voicing the erstwhile director). Wild Haggis is an urban myth but there is a multitude of web sites devoted to promoting that myth. Most other aspects of this interview are also fabricated although a Scotsman and cartographer named James McKay did travel Nebraska in the late 18th Century. Lewis and Clark apparently found his maps invaluable in their travels.

If you'd like to see and hear some bona fide Scottish pipers, the Scottish Society of Nebraska will soon be celebrating Tartan Day with music, bagpiping, dancing and food.
