The Holland Center reopens for in-person entertainment this weekend with two days of free concerts. Holland Center Outdoors will take place on the building’s lawn with up to eight patrons inside one of a series of 10-foot by 10-foot painted squares.

The weekend kicks off Friday, Sept. 25 at 6 p.m. with performances by local band Sack of Lions and country duo The Swon Brothers. Saturday afternoon will feature a slate of family events and food trucks with more music in the evening. Local musician Mesonjixx will take the stage at 6 p.m. followed by Chicago-based funk group Bassel & The Supernaturals.

Omaha Public Radio’s Courtney Bierman talked to Andy Cassano, the Omaha Performing Arts vice president of programming, about challenges in planning the event and the venue’s new COVID safety measures.

No outside food or drink is allowed at Holland Center Outdoors. Patrons claim lawn space on a first come, first served basis. More information and a full schedule of Holland Center Outdoors events can be found on the Omaha Performing Arts website.
