Omaha Police Chief Todd Schmaderer announced Tuesday the arrests of six people in connection with two homicides.

Police have arrested three people in connection with a homicide last month outside a west Omaha nightclub.

Omaha Police Chief Todd Schmaderer announced the arrests Tuesday at a news conference about recent gun violence. As of October 12, 31 people were homicide victims in Omaha. 24-year-old Delayno Wright was shot outside the Halo Ultra Lounge on September 3 and died at Nebraska Medical Center.

Chief Schmaderer says OPD has added staff in the Homicide and Gang units to address continuing gun violence.  "For the very small number of individuals and offenders that want to use gun violence as a means of retaliation or as a means to further a criminal act, it is important to know that if you escape apprehension the night of your offense, it doesn’t stop there for the Omaha Police Department."

Police also arrested three people for first-degree murder in connection with the shooting death of 16-year-old Montrell Wiseman. Wiseman and a 16-year-old female were found shot early Sunday morning at a home on North 21st street. Two additional warrants have been issued in connection with that case.
