Recycling Pickup Delayed...Again!

(Omaha, NE)  --  Recycling pickup is being delayed in Omaha.  Public Works officials say recycling collection is being suspended today and tomorrow because Waste Management is getting an increased amount of yard waste and garbage due to the recent hail storm.  Recent heavy rains have led to wet conditions at the landfill and slower vehicle turnaround times.  The following press releases was distributed by the Public Works Depoartment:

"OMAHA RECYCLING COLLECTION PLACED ON TEMPORARY HOLD June 01, 2019, Omaha, NE --

The City of Omaha Public Works Department announces that recycling collection is being suspended Monday, June 3, and Tuesday June 4. This suspension of collection is for recycling only. Garbage and yardwaste collection will continue, residents should set out their garbage and yardwaste on their normal day of collection. Any materials not collected on the normal day of collection will be collected the following day. Waste Management is experiencing an increased amount of yardwaste and garbage due to the hail storm earlier this week. Additionally, approximately 5 inches of rain over the past 10 days in Omaha has caused wet conditions at the landfill, resulting in increased vehicle turnaround times. Waste Management has brought in additional staff to assist with the increased volumes of material. Citizens may sign up for e-mail notification of impending solid waste collection holidays or service delays by going to http://join.wasteline.org. The City’s solid waste website is www.wasteline.org and the Facebook presence is www.facebook.com/wasteline."
