Gale County taxpayers may be on the hook for the 28-point-one-million dollar payout to the "Beatrice Six." The introduced bill, facing a final decision by Governor Ricketts, would create a half-cent sales tax for federal judgments over 25-million dollars. This would help pay the millions owed to six people wrongfully convicted of a Beatrice murder in 1985. Senator Myron Dorn, who proposed the bill, says there will be a push for a veto override vote if the governor decides to veto it.
