YES's "Dance for a Chance" Event Raises Funds for Homeless Youth, Dev Dir. & Dancer Discuss on KIOS

Youth Emergency Services (YES) has the mission to serve homeless and at-risk youth by providing critically-needed resources which empower them to become self-sufficient.  Basically, they help youth in crisis get back on their feet in whatever ways they can.  After meeting their immediate needs for food, shelter, clothing and safety, YES creates a support system which helps them flourish.

YES is the only charity in Omaha specifically serving homeless or near homeless youth.  Last year, 4,000 youth were served by YES.  And while that is impressive, it takes resources.

So, YES is having a fundraising event, the 11th annual "Dance for a Chance" is on Thursday, August 1, at the Omaha Design Center.  Similar to Dancing with the Stars, "Dance for a Chance" pairs up dancers from the business community with instructors, who then work together to create a dance, pick accompanying music and practice over the summer before competing in August.

Barb Farho, Director of Development for YES, and Emily Williams, Dancer (with the "day job" of  Continuous Improvement Director for Lindsay Corporation), join Mike Hogan "Live & Local" to discuss the mission of Youth Emergency Services, the fun of the event and how every person listening can participate in selecting the winning dance couple, who go home with the coveted Mirror Ball Trophy!
