Council Bluffs, IA – Iowa voters go to the polls tomorrow for the Hawkeye State's primary election.
Polls are open from 7 am to 9 pm. In the race for Governor, incumbent Democrat Chet Culver is running unopposed. Three Republicans: former Governor Terry Branstad, Bob Vander Plaats, and Rod Roberts, are seeking the nomination.
U.S. Senator Charles Grassley is unopposed for the Republican nomination in that race. Three Democrats are vying for the nomination: Tom Fiegen, Bob Krause and Roxanne Conlin.
In western Iowa, District 49 State Senator Hubert Houser is running unopposed. He'll be challenged in the general election by Democrat Scott Schondelmeyer of Henderson. District 56 State Representative Matt Windschitl is seeking another term and has no opponent. Incumbent District 57 State Representative Jack Drake is also running unopposed.
District 97 State Representative Richard Anderson and District 98 State Representative Greg Foristall will both be unopposed in the general election. The District 99 race features Democrat Kurt Hubler and Republican Mary Ann Hanusa. Incumbent Doug Struyk is not seeking re-election.
District 100 State Representative Paul Shomshor is unopposed in the Republican primary. He'll face Democrat Mark Brandenburg of Council Bluffs in the general election.
District 5 Congressman Steve King, a Republican, is seeking re-election. Two Democrats, Mike Denklau and Matt Campbell, are vying to challenge King in the November election.
