Economic experts are predicting a recession in the Midwest in the first part of 2023. Creighton University Economist Ernie Goss says the Mid-America Business Conditions Index is now below growth neutral for the first time since May of 2020. The index measures the business outlook for nine Midwest states including Nebraska. Goss says about 65 percent of businesses are experiencing labor shortages.
