Thirty-one deer tested positive in Nebraska for chronic wasting disease during the November gun deer season. Nebraska Game and Parks says they tested 603 samples from check stations across Nebraska. Positive cases first appeared in Rock, Blaine, and Thomas Counties this year. There isn't any existing evidence that CWD is a health risk for humans, but public health officials recommend contact with the disease be avoided.
