Omaha crews re-treating some residential areas after snow storm

Omaha Public Works has 70 to 80 trucks in residential areas, clearing snow and ice after last week’s snow storm.

About nine inches of snow fell in Omaha during last Wednesday’s blizzard. Public Works officials say main streets are mostly clear of snow and ice.

Street Maintenance Superintendent Scott McIntyre says some residential areas need additional treatment to clear what are now ice-covered roads.  "There are some locations where we’re going to have to go back repeatedly over the next several days and put sand and anti-icing materials down to provide some traction and to break up the ice."

Omahans who live in areas where additional street clearing is needed should contact Public Works through its website, the Mayor’s Hotline, or through the city of Omaha app for smart phones.
