An event this weekend at Creighton University gives students three days to develop a technology company.
The 3 Day Startup begins Friday afternoon at Creighton’s Heider College of Business. Between 2pm Friday and Sunday evening, five teams of students will brainstorm ideas, survey community members about technology, create a business plan and prototype, and pitch their ideas.
Alexis Taylor, executive director and founder of Creighton’s 3 Day Startup, says they’re looking for more than just technology or business students.
"We are looking for students who are innovative, who are really interested in a startup space, eager to create something new, and create an impactful company that will just be created throughout the weekend. And we really look for students who have a core competency in the design fields, or in law, or in development, or in business."
The five business plans will be presented Sunday night to a panel of entrepreneurs, investors, and professors.
Taylor says the 3 Day Startup isn’t a competition. She says when it ends, the goal is to have five businesses that can continue to develop past the Startup weekend.
