“A Love of Place: The Metropolitan Advantage” is the theme of the 2015 conference of the Coalition of Urban and Metropolitan Universities.
UNO will host the conference. Chancellor John Christensen says the coalition is comprised of 70 institutions across the country.
He says between 250 and 350 leaders from those universities attend the conference each year.
Chancellor Christensen says the conference offers opportunities to network and discuss challenges unique to the urban environment. He says these higher education leaders will discuss best practices in urban settings.
"How universities can more effectively engage with their community through their teaching, research and service to economic issues in those settings to address issues of business, education, cultural, social, whatever the nature of the challenges may be.”
Chancellor Christensen says UNO’s new Community Engagement Center will be open by 2015 and will be the site of several conference events and sessions.
