UNO Art Gallery opens first exhibit of school year today

UNO’s first exhibit of the 2015-2016 school year opens today.  Denise Brady, Coordinator for the UNO Art Gallery, says the exhibit is being offered in conjunction with the Nebraska Art Teachers Association’s Annual Conference.

The exhibition will feature 48 pieces of art from 31 art educators across the state.  Brady says there will also be an exhibit of large format photographs by artist Sandy Skogland.

Skogland is the keynote speaker at this year’s conference.  Brady says there are two reasons she feels the exhibit is special.

"Having Sandy Skogland’s work here that we don’t get to see very often here in Nebraska.  And it’s nice to showcase the work of these art educators. These are the teachers that work in public and private schools across the state and teach art to our children.  It’s nice to honor their work as artists and see the work they’re doing.”

Both exhibits are on display through  Thursday, October 1st.  There is a public reception today from 4:30 to 6:30 on the first floor of the Weber Fine Arts Building at UNO.
