MCC puts out a call for artists

As part of the expansion on its Fort Omaha campus, Metropolitan Community College has a call out for artists.

Susan Trinkle, Dean of Humanities and The Arts for Metropolitan Community College, says the college is accepting proposals for artwork to adorn the inside of the new Center for Advance and Emerging Technology building.

Trinkle says anyone who has been a student at Metro is welcome to submit their ideas.  She says you don’t have to have graduated from Metro but if you have taken a class, no matter how long ago, you may submit a proposal.

Trinkle says they welcome all ideas but are especially interested in styles or concepts that bridge the history of the Fort Omaha campus with the future of technology.

"We really respect the history of our campus as a fort but also as the ancestral homeland for the Omaha people.  So we are looking for incredible diversity for the art that we would accept and we always try to call for art that would encourage all different media and all different types of backgrounds that are informing the artists’ work.”

Though proposals are officially due tomorrow, Trinkle says there will be a short grace period.  She says at the end of the month, judges will get together to make their selections.
