Police seeking this suspect, you can help-402 444-STOP

An Omaha Crime Stoppers tweet shows police a picture of the person who gave police the slip in an early morning chase.  Investigators are trying to attach a name to the picture.

A Carter Lake Police sergeant escaped injury in the Thursday morning incident but his cruiser was rammed.  It all began about 4:20 a.m. when Carter Lake Police checked on a suspicious vehicle in a hotel parking lot. The sergeant found a man who was passed out.

When the man woke up he took off in a Land Rover, ramming the cruiser. The police vehicle was disabled in the crash. The sergeant was outside of the vehicle and was not hurt.

That triggered a police chase that ended at 30th & Huntington in Omaha, just north of Miller Park. The driver bailed out and ran into the neighborhood.  Police set up a perimeter and searched with a Douglas County K9 unit.

Investigators discovered that the Land Rover had been stolen last week. The search was eventually called off.  Police posted the pictures on Thursday afternoon.  If you have any information about the incident or the person involved, contact Omaha Crime Stoppers at 402 444-STOP.
