Biblical archaeology conference marks 15th year

The Temple Mount, Egypt’s pharaohs, and the Lover’s Coin are all topics of discussion at this year’s Batchelder Conference on Biblical Archaeology.

The conference is Thursday through Saturday at UNO. It brings scholars from around the world to Omaha to talk about biblical history, politics, and discoveries at UNO’s Bethsaida dig site in Israel.

One discussion at this year’s Conference is about what’s called the “Lover’s Coin.” It’s an ancient coin featuring Cleopatra on one side and Marc Antony on the other. Only a few such coins still exist, and one was found at the Bethsaida dig site last summer.
