Better Business Bureau Offers "Integrity" Scholarship

The Better Business Bureau wants to make students aware of a $2000.00 scholarship open to area high school seniors. According to Margo Riekes, Communications Director for the BBB, this scholarship was started to honor the memory of their former CEO, Scott Mecham, who died unexpectedly. Riekes says the scholarship’s focus on integrity makes it quite unique.

“Integrity was a trait that was important to him, it’s important to the BBB, it’s what we are all about, and we decided a great way to honor his memory was to have our foundation give out scholarships to students who show and exemplify integrity in both their schools and their community.”

Riekes says the essay is the most important component of the scholarship application – with it being weighted 50% and grades only weighted 5% overall.  The essay asks students to explain how they would make a decision when faced with an ethical dilemma.

Scholarship applications must be postmarked by March 9th.  The application and rules are on the website BBBinc.org

Also on the website are rules for a BBB student video contest with a 1st place prize of $500.00 to both the student and his/her school.
