Loessfest was initiated last year by the Council Bluffs Parks Department to be a signature event at Hanafan Park, on the eastern side of the Bob Kerrey Pedestrian Bridge.
Council Bluffs Mayor Matt Walsh says the celebration kicks off this Sunday with a three band concert featuring Three Dog Night, Loverboy and The Guess Who.
Walsh says on Memorial Day, the Omaha Symphony will perform. He says after their concert, there will be a fireworks show.
Loessfest runs through June 8th.
"There will be a variety of different events. We will have everything from a Disney event for kids to semi-pro football to an extreme challenge road race. So just a variety of fun things for people to do and participate in.”
Sunday’s concert takes place at 6:30 p.m. The Omaha Symphony performs Monday at 8:00.
