Douglas County Election Commissioner Dave Phipps said voter turnout was just about what his office predicted.
He said with the numbers they have now, voter turnout stands at 40.5%.
Phipps said by the time his office counts the rest of the early voting ballots and provisional ballots, voter turnout will be somewhere between 45-46%, about the number predicted.
"We had some normal ‘where do I vote?’ sorts of problems. We had a couple of issues that we got straightened out at a polling place right away in the morning. But not a lot of voters were too inconvenienced by anything so a pretty typical Election Day from our point of view.”
For the 2010 midterm election, turnout was 40%. Eight years ago, it was 49%. Phipps says top ticket races drew more interest in the midterm election.
