State To Fund Food Stamps

(Lincoln, NE)  --  Nebraska residents on food assistance are continuing to get food stamps despite the partial shutdown of the federal government.  The Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services expects to fund the SNAP food stamp program through March by using one-point-five-million-dollars in federal funds this month plus another one-point-eight-million-dollars.  The state Department of Health and Human Services spends nearly one-million-dollars on the SNAP program each month.
