Cattlemen's Ball Raises Funds for Cancer Research at UNMC

A major fundraiser for cancer research at UNMC, the Cattlemen’s Ball of Nebraska, takes place June 1st and 2nd.

Ninety percent of the event’s proceeds go to cancer research at the Medical Center. To date, the Ball has contributed more than $13 million since 1998.

Karla Deepe, a volunteer with the 2018 Cattlemen’s Ball, says each year they try to raise more money than the year before.

“It’s a matter of trying to keep that money coming in to that cause and so they have plenty of money to work with for research. The grants and things that UNMC has to apply for require funds, and they kind of have to have the starter grants so that they can look into other grants as well and keep this research going. Research takes a lot of money.”

Deepe says the events planned include four live auctions, gourmet meals, craft beer tasting, a truck raffle, a fashion show featuring cancer survivors, and live music featuring country music star and actor Trace Adkins.

Tickets are available now at two different tiers and must be purchased prior to the event. This year’s Ball will be held in Hebron.
