Omaha, NE – The Salvation Army of Omaha met its $3 million dollar goal for the 2010 Tree of Lights campaign.
Salvation Army officials say it's the first time the Tree of Lights campaign has topped three-million dollars. Madeline Madden is Director of Annual Giving. She says the economy, combined with an increase in need for services, made meeting the goal even more important. " The economy has been a tough one, it's rocky, and we were expecting because the numbers increased for the demand for our services that donations would be more difficult this year than in the past."
Donations to the Tree of Lights campaign go toward 23 programs and services. Among those is the Winter Night Watch program, which provides warm meals and clothing to Omaha's homeless and near-homeless.
