(Omaha, NE) -- The Metropolitan Utilities District headquarters in downtown Omaha could soon be under new ownership. The utilities district board is expected to vote today on whether to accept a six-million-dollar offer from Douglas County for the property at 17th and Farnam. The Omaha World Herald reports that at least five members of the seven-person board have voiced support for the proposed sale, and none have announced plans to oppose it. Douglas County is considering using the headquarters site to build a courthouse annex and juvenile detention center.
