Omaha Teachers Continue Demanding Mask Mandate; Lincoln Students Request Remote Learning

Omaha World Herald

Omaha school teachers are continuing their call for a city mask mandate.  More than 200 educators gathered yesterday at Memorial Park to demand that city and state leaders pass a public facemask order.  Nebraska Governor Pete Ricketts says he is opposed to mask mandates, and he added that policymakers should decide if schools should reopen to students. Thousands of students in the Lincoln Public School District are asking to learn remotely this fall.  District officials announced yesterday that they had received more than 67-hundred remote learning requests by the July 31st deadline.  That marks nearly 17-percent of students in the school district. Schools are working to verify the requests.
