Redevelopment Plans Underway For Civic Auditorium/Wintergreen Apts Sites
A redevelopment plan is in the works for the former Civic Auditorium site in Omaha. The first phase of the proposal calls for building 388 apartments on the site. City officials plan to sell the site to developers for nearly one-point-five-million-dollars, and construction could start in 2023. The Civic Auditorium closed in 2014.
The former site of the Wintergreen Apartments in Omaha could also soon be redeveloped. Habitat for Humanity is planning to build 88 single-family homes on the site near 51st and Sorensen Parkway. The planning board and city council must approve the transfer of the land, which was acquired by the city of Omaha in 2007.
