Iowa Corn Crop Only Adds To Muggy Summer Weather

Emily Chen-Newton

Iowa's corn is contributing to muggy weather statewide. In addition to heat and recent rain, corn crops add humidity through corn sweat. The National Weather Service says Iowa's maturing corn crops add more than 50-billion gallons of water daily into the atmosphere. Corn is a crop that releases water into the air when it gets warm. Corn crops are expected to mature in July and August, meaning more muggy days are yet to come.
