At Richardson Dwellings, a public housing complex in Northeast Washington, D.C., some of the units are beyond repair.

Nebraska will get almost two-million dollars to reduce health hazards in public housing. The U-S Department of Housing and Urban Development says projects will include removing lead-based paint, mold, and fire hazards. Both the Schuyler and Clarkson Housing Authorities, northwest of Omaha, will split the money. Iowa will get almost 300-thousand dollars for public housing safety improvements.
