Omaha Mayor Jean Stothert is seeking changes to the Deferred Retirement Option Program. WOWT reports the proposed change will allow the city to retain the police and fire chiefs for a few additional years beyond retirement. The current program allows the city to exercise the retainment option for five years, but the mayor wants a second option to permit the city to allow the chiefs to stay on for an additional three to five years.
