The Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services is revealing the most common causes of death in the state. According to a new state dashboard, heart disease and cancer were the most common causes of death in Nebraska in 2023. Lower respiratory disease, accidents and stroke also made the list. Officials say knowing the top causes of death will support the development of health prevention efforts to increase public awareness.
