The American Society of Civil Engineers gives the nation's infrastructure a grade of C-minus on its quadrennial infrastructure report card. Many of the country's roads, bridges, airports, dams, levees and water systems are aging and in poor to mediocre condition.

Nebraska is facing infrastructure challenges. According to a 2025 report card from the American Society of Civil Engineers, 17 percent of Nebraska roads are in fair or poor condition, and seven-point-eight percent of the state's bridges are structurally deficient. The state currently has three-point-two billion dollars for infrastructure improvements for more than 600 projects.
