NPR, ABC political contributor Cokie Roberts talks about 2016 campaigns

NPR Morning Edition contributor and longtime Congressional Correspondent Cokie Roberts believes more candidates will enter the Democratic race for President.

Roberts visited Omaha Wednesday and Thursday for two events. During an interview Wednesday with KIOS, Roberts talked about the 2016 race. She says former Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton is the odds-on favorite for the Democratic nomination, but there could be more candidates.

"Jim Webb is talking about getting in, the former Senator from Virginia. Lincoln Chafee, who’s been both Senator from and Governor of Rhode Island. One is a Republican, one is an Independent, now he’s a Democrat. And Martin O’Malley just exited Governor of Maryland."

Vermont Senator Bernie Sanders is also seeking the Democratic nomination for President.

Roberts also is the author of a new book about the influence of women in Washington during the Civil War. She was Congressional correspondent for NPR for more than a decade, and is a political commentator for ABC News.
